Question by kimmcm30: Please find me a government grant to buy the business of my dreams.? I am a wife and a mother of a 14 year old daughter. I am writing because I am in dire need of some help. I would like to first tell you about myself, and then discuss what I am looking for. I have always been a very organized and hardworking woman. I have held jobs since the age of 14. I had no problems balancing work, school, and sports all through growing up. After school, I took a course for Certified Nurses Aide at Fox Hospital, and was hired there. I worked at the hospital for 10 years. After that, I left that job to take another at a NYS University. I worked there for almost 7 years. Approximately 2.5 years ago I had to come forward about being sexually assaulted and tortured by my boss there. Four other women that he did it to also came forward to tell there stories. I had not said anything before this, because I needed this job and nobody would believe me. I tried to reach out a couple times, dropping hints, and the response was that he couldnât do something like that. So, I just bottled everything up inside, but when I had to talk about everything that happened to me, I completely broke down. I tried to stay there but the retaliation was to much to handle. People did not believe that he did what he did and treated me very badly. I ended up resigning my position and spiraling me even further down, I went into therapy and had to be medicated and treated for Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome, Severe depression, and disassociation syndrome. I was no longer the same person. My daughter lost the mother that she knew. I was always the mom who was out playing with the kids, coaching softball, our house was where all the neighborhood kids came to hang out, and eat, and swim, and etc. Now, I could barely get out of bed, and rarely would go outside. We ended up losing our home, our cars, our whole life. We had to go bankrupt, and that was just discharged in January of this year. About a year and a half ago, I was approved to receive Social Security Disability, which is what I have for income now. My daughter had become depressed seeing what this all did to me, and even more when we had to move and now live in trailer that is in bad shape. She had to leave all her friends, and the life that she had known since she was 2 years old. Now she is suffering from depression and anxiety, and hates herself, hates her life, just hates everything. This is not fair to her, and I have to do something about it, so that she can have her mom back, and I can have my daughter back. This leads me into why I am writing you. For the past 4 months I have been searching for government grants. I see commercials all the time about how there is government money out there for people who need it. I have researched the internet, and spent time in the library and reading books about grants, to having no luck finding them. Most things I find are just leading me into a scam. I have the opportunity right now to buy a small diner and home combo , back in the town that we all miss. I have always wanted to run my own business, and right now, I know that I will never be able to work for anyone else, because I trust no one. I am ready to get off the disability and run my own business with my family. I also plan on adding on to the diner building to make a small movie area and game area, so that the neighborhood kids have something to do, and somewhere to go, instead of walking the street. The dilemma that I face is that nobody will give me a loan, because of bankruptcy and my income. Nobody wants to listen to my story and give me a chance. That is the reason for me looking for government grants. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for me and my family, and I really want this. The diner and the home are both turnkey. The diner needs some rennovations and some new equipment, but other than that its ready to go and so am I. I have calculated out needing a total of 200,000 dollars to make this happen. What I am asking you for is either for information that will give me a guaranteed grant, or to possibly take a chance on me yourself. I have done a lot of reading, and I see that there are people out there that are willing to help people. I guess they are called philanthropists. I am grateful for them and all I am asking for is some help and some compassion, so that my family and I can get our lives back. This opportunity will not be available for very long, so I need to act on this asap. Please contact me as soon as you can and let me know what kind of help you can give to me. Writing this letter was very hard for me, because I take pride in doing things for myself, but I have no choices here, and I need immediate help. All you are going to get is scam sites. No such thing as grants for this. Get ready to be scammed by all the spammers here and all the online scam sites. Most will require a $ 50 or $ 100 fee for a list that you can get for free at Grants.gov The feds only give grants if they have a desperate need for a business. Such as a daycare for the blind, or a grocery store in a crime ridden neighborhood where no one wants to set up a business. -- Most new businesses can take at least 5 years to turn a profit. Try to find a real job, with a real employer, with real income.

Go to HTTP://HYPERLINK "http://www.grants.gov/" grants.gov/ and follow the instructions. You will find that unless you are a nonprofit, in basic research or daycare, there are no grants for a small business. Some cities offer grants to small businesses if they will locate in the downtown area or want to upgrade their store front, for the purposes of building up downtown traffic. Check with your City Hall for details. Private foundations offer grants. You can get a list of most US Foundations and private grant sources at HTTP://www.foundations.org/

(1888PressRelease) Viridian Energy & Environmental, LLC to Provide Free New York State Energy Code Design Reviews.
New York, NY - The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has contracted Viridian Energy & Environmental, LLC, energy and sustainability specialists to provide New York State architectural and engineering design firms with free project reviews regarding compliance with the Energy Conservation and Construction Code 2010 (NYSECCC-2010) effective December 28, 2010 under NYSERDA's Energy Codes and Support Training Initiative.
Recent legislative efforts have increased requirements for energy performance of buildings and code enforcement throughout the State. A recipient of federal funds through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, New York State is obligated to achieve 90-percent compliance for residential and commercial buildings with NYSECCC-2010 by the year 2017. Energy Code Compliance & Keeping Your Project Moving Forward, a publication released by the New York City Department of Buildings (NYC DOB) declared that the City will offset the "environmental damage [from city buildings] by enforcing the New York State Energy Conservation Construction Code [NYSECCC]."
In light of the increased focus on enforcement and multiple compliance paths offered by the NYSECCC-2010, NYSERDA has contracted Viridian to provide project review services related to energy requirements through May, 2010 at no cost to interested design firms. Consultations will include suggested changes to design documents prior to submission for local approval.
Reviews will be comprehensive assessments of a project's energy code compliance and will address specific project attributes including applicable construction categories such as above-grade walls, interior lighting, and HVAC equipment. The assessments will also focus on intended project design goals, corresponding code requirements, potential non-compliant issues, as well as opportunities for exceeding code compliance and recommended actions. A final analysis report will be issued documenting all project work.
Architectural and engineering design firms are encouraged to schedule a project review session that may include their sub-consultants and project owners (code officials can be invited at the request of a design firm) where the topics of discussion will include:
General provisions and applicability of NYSECCC-2010
Selecting the appropriate compliance path (e.g. prescriptive vs. performance; ASHRAE 90.1 vs. NYSECCC-2010)
Detailing requirements of the chosen compliance path and common project pitfalls
Identifying common non-compliance areas and potential design difficulties
Clarifying code language - incomplete or lacking in detail
Acceptable compliance reporting documentation
Reviews will qualify for continuing education credits through professional organizations recognized by New York State. For more information visit our website and select NYSERDA Energy Code Reviews.
