Question by : Is there any single mom loans out there for college students? I am a single mother trying to attend college. Is there any loans out there that I can apply for? Loans that is for my personal spending????? I have looked at a few websites but they didn't look legit. I have two children and I am unemployed. Trying to get a college education, so I can't work and I don't have the money to pay a babysitter. I need a full amout loan for me and my children. Any suggestions? ^ ignore this Go talk with financial aid, they can hook you up with all kinds of LEGIT scholarships. Fafsa is key if you havnt filled that out.

Money for personal spending would be a personal loan, not a student loan. Without a job, you aren't going to qualify for a personal loan. You can get student loans to pay for your educational expenses, but you will need to get a job, ANY job, to pay your bills because you aren't going to be able to live exclusively off of financial aid refund checks (if you even get any). You most certainly can work and go to school. People do it all the time.

Heather, what City/County/State are you in? the reason I ask is because you might could find some help through WIA. Go to your unemployment office & ask them about WIA Or, if you can edit to add City/County/State... then I will help you find links You would have to go to a WIA approved program for a WIA approved career at a WIA contracted provider --- for example, WIA won't pay for Associates Degree or Bachelor's Degree programs, but it will pay for certificate programs One of the most common is LPN WIA can provide child-care while you are in an approved program (something you would have to figure out how to pay for if you were to go to school) You will need to fill out FAFSA because if you are awarded Pell Grant, that money goes towards tuition, books, etc before WIA's payments This will at least jump-start your way into a job, from there, you can finish college on your own Also, I agree with posters who say work while in school.... I know many people working full-time while in school full-time one is a single mom who works full-time in a demanding job (typically @ 50 hours per week) and is in school full-time while also wrestling an inoperable brain tumor.... if she can do it, you can too!
