Most desirable used cars for under $5000

Less than a year ago, physically challenged siblings Anjira, 26, and Rupali, 27, took a Tk 5000 loan from two loan sharks of Kapashatia village under Harinakundo upazila in the district. ... “The repayment of interest only is done in small weekly ... Vicious traps of loan sharks

With today's economic turmoil and uncertainty, it's no surprised many Canadians are looking to purchase a vehicle that is both affordable and reliable for under $ 5000. The logic is simple; buy something that is affordable, great in the winter weather. But it will be cheaper to insure as well as to maintain, the market for vehicles under $ 5000 is big, so big that if you don't react quickly enough some one else may just snatch the deal before your eyes. This doesn't mean you should jump into making a purchase without any research or sound advice. For one, vehicles under $ 5000 will not come with any warranty, this is normal because there is just no profit in the transaction for the dealership to offer any legitimate warranty. Don't be fooled by some dealers' advertising of free 6 month or 1 year warranty. These types of third party coverage is completely useless, the amount of hassle and headache you will go through just to make a claim will make you think twice the next time you encounter them again.

Vehicles under $ 5000 are not hard to find but buy with caution because some vehicles may seem like a great deal on paper, but the repair bill can be very high. Typically speaking the Japanese vehicles are the better choice, not only they are fuel efficient but also reliable even at higher km. Good choice by default would be Honda and Toyotas, certain Nissan products as well. Honda Civic is famous for its reliability and resale value, Toyota Corolla is a close competitor as well with only minor differences.

Used Hondas are usually more expensive compare to a used Toyotas, for $ 5000 you maybe able to purchase a 8-10 year old Civic on the market with 150,000 - 200,000 km. Don't let the km scare you, the Civic can easily last up to 400 - 500,000 km as long as you maintain the vehicle with proper maintenance plan. For Hondas in particular anything older than 1998 will require a timing belt and water pump replacement at 100,000 km. Ask your seller if this has been done, if not you should save some money set aside for this important maintenance. If you are purchasing a used Honda Accord or Odyssey you should be aware of potential transmission failures if the vehicle has more than 160,000 km, bring along a friend who has good mechanical knowledge or to your local garage for an inspection.

When it comes to purchasing a used Corolla you should check for engine oil sludge by opening the engine oil cover as well as the dip stick. Make sure the vehicle does not burn engine oil when you start or a puff of blue smoke when you first turn the vehicle on. Suspension noises and exhaust heat shield rattles are common among Corollas when the vehicle is more than 8 years old. But when it comes to timing belt and water pump replacement it is not as crucial for a Toyota due to difference in the so called "none interference" engine design. Remember don't be over concerned with small mechanic issues, as long as the vehicle's powertrain has no obvious problems you are on the right track.

Question by Pinky: Starting a small Photography Business? I have some questions for people who have been in my situation... I want to open a small Photography business. Starting out in a small studio space with 1-2 part-time employees that are paid a percentage of a particular shoot's profit OR a hourly wage...not sure yet. I am only 20years old but already I have a small clientel of people. I have a part-time job and I attend college. -Would a bank give a small business loan to a 20year old who makes less than 12k a year? A loan around $ 5000-10000k is what I'm looking for. -I am still a dependent in terms of taxes...will that affect anything?(me filing when my business is running?) -Should I wait a year and save more money before starting this business? Everything right now is "cash under the table" and not done under a Small Business License ANY other tips? I know I am young, but I have a passion and the drive to start a business.(so no comments regarding that...) Best answer for Starting a small Photography Business?:

If you're planning on starting this business as a career step then do it right. Start by getting a business license. Start it as a sole proprietorship unless you plan on doing weddings. If you're going to do weddings, you might want to look at an LLC (Limited Liability Company). Wedding shooters have to be perfect...and many are sued when things go wrong, as in theory, it's a one shot deal. You can't retake shots of a wedding than happened last month. If you're doing this as a business, it's about profit. That means, starting out, work from your home and just rent a studio for the hours you need one. Most studios that rent time also have all the lighting and backdrops you need and many even have overhead doors and room for shooting an automobile. They'll have changing rooms for models etc. There's no point in paying monthly rent on a building, when you can rent it only for the hours you actually need it for shooting. Again, be careful when hiring people. You'll be subject to minimum wage laws, so you'll have to make sure that whatever percentage you pay them, meets at least the minimum wages for your state. Again...like a studio, hire them just for the period you need them. You can find people willing to do that sort of gig on Craigslist. If you're hiring people you'll also need workers comp insurance. As far as a bank loan goes...forget that. Even with 20-yrs experience, they wouldn't look kindly on a start-up loan without being fully secured. Continue to build your client base and skills. Keep costs in line, and charge a fair price for your work and you'll do fine, even in this economy. If you can build your business and make a profit in this economy, you'll do really well when it turns around.

It is likely you will want a website, and probably one with plenty of storage space for your photos and plenty of traffic (nothing worse than having your site down for the last part of the month after having lots of visitors!) Although free hosting can have decent storage (1.5 GB) and traffic (100 GB) -see http://www.freewebhosting.comxa.com/ you may want to consider looking at the paid option that is also available there since you can get unlimited data and traffic for under $ 5 per month, and this includes a free domain name (yes, a real .com etc domain name, not a free subdomain)
